We are an all-age, family Church, offering the opportunity to get to know the Bible well, a chance to serve and grow your gifts in a variety of ministries, as well as transport to and from UKC ... and student hospitality with real food!
Every other Sunday we meet after church for lunch in someone’s home. As well as some great home-cooked food and a chance to generally chill out we spend time praying for each other and getting to know one another. Sometimes we take the opportunity to discuss topical issues and look at what the Bible says about living as a Christian.

A student’s view
When I came to Barton three years ago as a student I felt immediately welcomed. Barton has a great range of age groups, from little ones and young families to students to older folk and it’s lovely to break out of the student bubble and be welcomed into the big Barton family.
I really enjoy being a part of a Home Group and definitely recommend joining one, it’s brilliant to know that there are a group of people who you can pray for and who are always praying for you. I also love the Student Lunches every fortnight and the Student Socials, such as film nights and pudding parties, which are always great!
Barton is big enough to keep on meeting new people every week, but small enough for you to look around and see lots of friends and familiar faces. Eric’s teaching is always strongly bible based and relevant – I promise that you’ll never leave on a Sunday without learning something new and having had a part of the Bible opened up to you in a new way.
There are lots of ways to get involved and stuck in at Barton, from playing in the band to helping out with the youth groups or in Sunday School. I’ve just finished my degree but am staying in Canterbury and at Barton because I love it too much to leave!

Getting to Barton
The mini-bus to Church leaves from the main bus stops at UKC on Sundays at 10 a.m. There is currently no bus service from Christchurch due to it’s proximity to the church.
